Angela CINCOTTA

After completing undergraduate studies in Anthropology and Linguistics and a Master of Education in Australia, AC spent two years teaching, writing curriculum and training teachers at the National University of Laos, then three years working on a variety of education development projects in the Lao PDR. She is currently completing a doctorate in the Faculty of Asian Studies at the Australian National University, examining the policy and practice of language use in ethnic minority education in Laos, with a focus on the relationship between official government discourses and local classroom adaptations. Angela also teaches Lao language in the Faculty of Asian Studies at the Australian National University, and works as a training coordinator for Australian government-sponsored volunteers who are setting off for assignments in developing countries. Her areas of interest include language policy in multilingual contexts, classroom code-switching among minority language speakers, teacher training for multilingual classrooms, and training models for cross-cultural communication.
